What's the best antivirus software for your PC/Laptop? well it's hard to say which brand is the best. But from my experience from trials and errors i can tell you few things.
First Norton Internet Security neither 2006 nor 2006 is ugly one, because it'll eat your computer memory which the results are, slow down your sytem when you start up or when you open other apps. I had one that built in by manufacturer of my laptop but i removed it because of those reason.
I can suggest you free antivirus softwares that available free in internet which is the best you can get.

1. Anti Virus Shield
From AOL, its very powerful machine that can detect any kind of virus in your infected PC where's Norton couldn't do it. But one thing you have to do is registered/subscribe it by your email every year. But sometime this AVS became irritating when you to update antivirus definition if your internet connection like snail. It will always fail to download the new one.

It's nice interface software which you change skin like media player. But for newbie to use if its feature for scanning it can be a pain the ass. So be familiar with it and you can enjoy its free subscription.
